Stock Infinity Amp Wont Work With Aftermarket Reciever?!
I have a 96' Chrysler LHS with the Infinity system in it and I plan on putting in a reciever, someone told me that very few stock external amps work with aftermarket head units. i need to install one so i can get some RCAs going for my other amp's (subwoofer amp) signal. Does anyone know anything about this? Is there an adapter or special device to hook this up w/ the stock amp?

Either you need to bypass the stock amp or you won't be able to turn the head unit up very high.

It won't be difficult if you buy an adaptor harness...

Just make sure you connect the amp turn-on wire (blue) when you wire everything up. Don't expect any gains in power output though, since the factory amp(s) will still be powering everything. Shuold still be an overall improvement in sound quality.

Re: Stock Infinity Amp Wont Work With Aftermarket Reciever?!
yea i would imagine the stock amp would power the speakers better than any ol aftermarket head unit anyways. im looking primarily for sound quality over anything though so when it comes down to that im not sure what would get me the best quality.
i need a head unit for quality severely because of the sub amp signal issue, im using a high-low converter to get an RCA signal to the amp right now and im not getting anywhere near the SQL that should come out of US Amp and Image Dynamics IDQ sub. im also getting half the voltage signal to the amp than i should be getting.

Precisely...
You just need an aftermarket wiring harness. Hook the color coded wires up with eachother...and make sure you hook up the blue (remote turn-on wire) so the amplifier will turn on

Re: Stock Infinity Amp Wont Work With Aftermarket Reciever?!
On Chryslers, I either just use the normal adapter like Metra 70-1817 or sometimes I wire around the amps. Usually, if I have a low power head unit I wire into the amps. If I have a high power head unit, I bypass the amps.

Re: Stock Infinity Amp Wont Work With Aftermarket Reciever?!
Where do you connect the blue wire. I purchased the kit and the directions didn't say anything about hooking up a blue wire for the amp. Right now my dash speakers play fine, but the door speaker don't work at all. The rear speakers play but are bearly audible.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Stock Infinity Amp Wont Work With Aftermarket Reciever?!
There should be an amp turn-on wire in your aftermarket deck harness. Some decks only have a blue wire, some with only blue/white stripe, and some have both. The same goes for the aftermarket harness. Normally with Chrysler harnesses there's just a blue wire, so connect that to your blue/white stripe wire from the deck (or just blue if you only have that one and not the blue/white stripe). This should turn on the factory amp when the deck is turned on.
