Re: Head Unit Wire Help?

illumination is a wire that gets power when the lights in your car are turned on. It dims the deck so it isnt as bright at night. ext. cont. the pink one, I have no idea. Mute the brown wire hooks to a module I believe that senses when a cell phone call is sent to your car and mutes your radio accordingly. P connect and amp connect are both basically the same thing, I think. Both will have a constant 12 when the deck is on. amp connect is the remote wire for an amp, and p connect I believe is for something along the lines of a power antenna. anyone else like to argue? I'm probably wrong.

K well i just hooked it up last night sodered all the wires tapped them up seperatly then taped them all up to prevent damage well my sister went out for a test ride, and she calls me up saying her sub doesnt work so i dont a quick check on all the amp wires and everything well she went to change the cd to put a bass cd in so we can see if we are getting anything and the led on the amp pops on. as soon as the cd goes in the light goes off. WEIRD so i had to pull the head unit out again and it turns out that the ANT CONT only kicks 12 volts in radio mode which sucked so i found another constant 12v line and hooked it up. I dont think i like kenwood anymore lol im stickin with panasonic.

Re: Head Unit Wire Help?

You had your amp lead connected to your power antenna, its as simple as that. I had my neon lights hooked up to my headunit power, and when I took out the CD they would shut off. Its about the same deal as that. Its ok to not like Kenwood though, I dont think many people do...except Best Buy. Theyre smart enough to start using Alpine though too.
