Pre- Caddy CTS I would have said Lincoln. But now, it's Cadillac.
1). A slew of brand new products (SRX, XLR, Escalade, all V-series). I didnt say CTS because it is just an new Catera that isnt a rebadged Chevy with leather. STS is just a redesign. DTS (DeVille) is just a redesign also.
2). Taking the fight to Mercedes and BMW for real this time.
3). "The standard of the world" is starting to make sense again as a slogan.
Lincoln just has too boring of cars. The Navigator and Aviator are pretty much the only Lincolns I would have to consider over buying a Cadillac (Escalade and SRX, respectivly). If Lincoln had more products that were more performance-oriented, then they would be better suited to compete with Cadillac. Between a DeVille/DTS and a TownCar, the Lincoln is more understated. Not necessarily a bad thing though.
My opinion is that Lincoln's are more elegent then Cadillac's. But Cadillac's (IMO) are more rewarding to drive and live with than Lincoln's.
It all depends on what you want in a luxury sedan or SUV. Or even luxury coupe/cabrio if Lincoln ever builds the Mark X concept.
Oh, and don't forget Chrysler. They are more mainstream luxury, but still... The 300C's sales speak for themselves.

Re: Cadillac or Lincoln
I'd take any Caddy or any Lincoln. I've never really liked Lincoln, IMO they don't have anything all that exciting.

Depends on how late I am for Bingo
In all seriousness, Cadillac, simply because they have newer products at the moment. Lincoln definitely have the edge in styling, though. The Zephyr is what the CTS should be looking like, for example.

Re: Cadillac or Lincoln
Well, the Lincoln LS is a very good car IMO, and the new Zephyr looks somewhat promising. Cadillac right now, but Lincoln may make a comeback.

I would take a caddy over a Lincon... IMO lincon has no true identity outside of Ford, and they dont do much to hide the fact that their vehicles are rebandaged fords...Caddys allo feel and are very different vehicles than its GM counterparts, they dont make you think of another GM vehicle when you look at them, and that uniqueness is what im impressed wit...

Yah the Lincoln LS isn't a bad ride at all. I drive my dads 2000 Ls v8 w/ the sport package all the time.

Your asking the,"Never ending story". Now if we could take the Cadillac Northstar engine and the Lincloln air conditioner and mix it with the Lincoln Transmission and Cadillac rear end and then change the Lincoln this with the Cadillac that then we'd have a Fordillac and a perfect car everyone could enjoy, and never have to ask this question again.

Re: Cadillac or Lincoln
Lincoln just needs to bring back the Mark VIII, as the Mark 9. AND NOT AS A DAMN TRUCK. They need to base it off of the SN95 99+ Chassis (retaining the IRS, like the MKIII), have the 32V 03+ Blown Cobra Motor (Like the Mark VIII's had, but they werent S/C'd) and make it look just like the MKIII. Done deal. But those CTSV's look nice..

Give me an STS-V any day of the weak, I'd take it over any BMW except the M5, over almost any of the "slower" model Mercedes, and over any Lincoln anyday. But I do agree that Lincoln should bring back a Mark IX, a close friend of mine has a Mark VIII and those fuckers haul ass in a very comfortable way.
