my system with PICS*

i recently bought a 89 Mustang LX so i figured i needed some sound since the stock system didnt cut it and put this together...

2 10" MTX Thunder4000 subs 40$ "brand new got em for like nothing"
760W Pioneer amp 160$
Rockford Fosgate wiring kit 80$
Pioneer 45wx4 SuperTunerIIID CD deck w detachable face 100$
carpeting from wal mart 7$
spray adhesive 3$
so alltogether this system so far has cost me a little bit over 400$ not bad for a first huh?

Re: my system with PICS*

Most camera's have flashes, and shutter speeds faster than a 1/15th of a second...

But besides that, not bad for 400 bucks.

I've read that you shouldn't mount your amp on your box, because the vibrations lead to mechanical failure of parts inside the amp. If you have nowhere else to mount it, I'd say get some rubber pads to screw it into, then screw the rubber down (down just screw straight through the rubber). A solid rubber ball cut in half might work... just some ideas I'm throwing out to keep your stuff working longer.

oh, and give me your email address... I'll resize those pics for you.

Re: my system with PICS*

this is an awesome piece of addon software from MS, it lets you resize pics right fro mthe folder, i use it all the time. http://download.microsoft.com/downl...wertoySetup.exe
saves time loading up PS or w/e.

and nice job on the system, i would mount the amp esle where, there not insanly delicate, but vibrating electronics is never really good.

Re: my system with PICS*

thats where there usually mounted, or on the sides of the trunk. pretty much anywhere else, its jsut that the vibrations is so powerfully right there cuz you right at the woofers.

that's crappola about not mounting an amp on the sub enclosure. If you're sub enclosure is vibrating that bad you need to use thicker wood. It shouldn't vibrate any worse than any other place around it.

Re: my system with PICS*

I read it somewhere Paul.... and it was a pretty good source too, I think. Although not necessary in all cases (or on all enclosures), it's probably a good rule of thumb to begin with.

Re: my system with PICS*

well it can happen, and if on the inside the lack of air ciruclation (unless ported) could cause over heating issues. but another reason NOT to mount it on the enclsore is theft. im sure they just love it when amps are screw right on to enclsores that arent bolted down...
