Re: Need a good car under 15k
Answer these brief questions in order for us to understand your situation and further help you:
1. How old are you?
2. What kind of motorsports are you interested in?
3. Do you have a preference in drivetrain?
4. Do you have a preference between american, japanese, german, etc..?
5. Will this car be a daily driver?
6. Do you live in an area that snows seasonally?
7. Do you have any cars in mind that have always interested you?
8. Can you work on the car yourself or will you be dependant on a mechanic for any work/repairs?
9. What years are you looking for, what is too old?
10. Is expensive insurance a problem?

Re: Need a good car under 15k
Some cars to consider:
'94-'01 Acura Integra GSR- Not the fastest car around, but fairly quick. Has a good reliability record and for $15k, you could find one in great condition.
'02-'03 Acura RSX Type S- This car might be hard to find for under $15k, but I have seen them for this price on several occasions. Basically, does everything the GSR does, but slightly better.
'99-'04 Ford Mustang GT- Faster than most of the cars in this list, but it lacks some of the reliability that the Japanese cars have. Easy to modify.
'97-'01 Honda Prelude- Speed is somewhere between the two Acuras, but the Prelude probably handles better than both (especially the Type SH). Known for great reliability.
'02-'03 Subaru Impreza WRX- Only car listed here that is AWD. Speed is on par with the Mustang, but you might have a hard time finding a good one under $15k.
Other cars: Nissan 300ZX TT/NA, Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, Dodge Neon SRT4 (might be hard to find at the price, not sure), Mazdaspeed Protege, Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, Chevrolet Camaro Z28, Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.

Damn straight. What's the point in answering a question if the person gives no detail, or doesn't even bother to check back in

For 15K, you could get a late 90's V8 F-Body. Sorry but I had to do it since I'm a camaro guy. Here are some things to consider:
2002 Camaro SS LS1 - 320HP/345TQ
13.5 @ 107 mph 1/4 mile
5.2 sec 0-60
2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 320HP/345TQ
13.5 @ 107.4 mph 1/4 mile
5.0 sec 0-60
Basically the same car engine-wise. Only thing that is different is the appearance. The WS6 looks a little better IMO.
Both have great straight line power and can hold their own in the turns. And of course they both look mean as hell.
I do agree though that you need to post your preferences and what your goals with the car are (drag/rally/drift/etc...)

Re: Need a good car under 15k
He needs to answer Lachean's questions, that would really determine what he is capable of handling financially at least. I agree that the F-bod is a great buy but alot of people can't do it for insurance purposes because they are too young or driving records.

For example, you like to fill the wheel well with a big wheel/tire combo while the car is sitting still. I like to fill it with a smaller wheel/tire combo by compressing the suspension in a corner. whatever floats your boat...
