I saw this comment in another thread under pontiac/grandam. I was a certified Hunter Alignment tech before and i never heard of this happening. Is it true if your car is out of alignmnet you could get uneven wear on your brake pads? this doesnt seem possible at all. if it is true explain to me how this is posible. Thanks for all your help.

maybe if you somehow busted something when you adjusted the suspension and bent the rotor or moved the rotor without moving the calipers.

Being most all disc brake system I know of have floating caliper's and are self centering to the disc, like Curtis73 says, "I don't see at all how its possible".
The normal problems I've seen is a warped disc that causes the brake pedel to pulse when applying the brakes or the pads worn bad enough to allow the metal backing plate to come in contact with the disc and if allowed to do this for very long causes lots of damage.
As for moving the rotor, I don't see how this could be possible as it is sandwhiched between the spindle and the rim and held in place with the lugnuts.
I think someone has disc brakes confused with tires.
As for being full of poop..I don't think they know a sack of shit from a loaf of bread, so don't send the to the store for bread.

since we're on the subject of brakes, can you resurface your brakes yourself or do you need a shop to do it for you, my mom's car has a warped brake rotor and it's flippin annoying. i heard it's not unsafe its just a comfort thing and that you don't need to get it resurfaced but it would be niced to do.

I suppose one could do anything if you have the proper equipment (and skill set). To re-surface your rotor you would need a milliing machine and a method of attaching the rotor such that the cutter can cut at right angles to the spindle.

It is not a hand tool job.

I would make sure the rotor has runout using a dial gauge on the car first. For more information on why rotors don't really warp, check out this link:

If there is no runout, the pulsation is most likely caused by deposition of stuff like brake pad material, which can be removed at home. Using some very coarse emery cloth just break the glaze on the rotors. It takes some elbow grease but it should improve things. Lay the pads on the emery cloth on a flat surface and scuff them a little too. Then make sure you properly heat cycle them or it will just happen again.
