How does the new, A4 2.0 compare with the TSX? And does anyone have any thoughts on how much of an improvement the A4 2.0 is over its predecessor, the A4 1.8?

the power improvement is the biggest improvement. the 1.8t was just a dog, way underpowered for how heavy the car is. i much prefer the B6, 1.8t before the current B7's, in terms of styling. but i like that audi finally stepped it up in the base powerplant. not to mention a chip can add even more power than it did on the 1.8t. it's also supposed to handle better thant he 1.8t's from what i've read. i've still yet to go test drive one myself.

other than that, i don't think the new A4's are gonnna keep up with the new 3 series, audi just hasn't gone the extra step on the new A4. as for comparison to the TSX, i have to say the TSX is a respectable car but not all that impressive to me. given the same hp, the audi will make better use of it for everyday driving. i would take the audi over the acura in this case. more luxurious appeal to it, more power and trim options, quattro, the 2.0t looks promising in terms of tunability if you need more than 200hp. and as for audi reliability, the 2004 audis ranked higher than any other european nameplate according to consumer reports, so perhaps they're going int he right direction but still not up to honda/acura reliability standards.

to recap, the 2.0t engine is a nice improvement over the 1.8t engine, but the overall car not so much IMO.

well... technically, the 'new' A4 isn't really a new A4 if you get what i mean.... it's just the usual audi range mid-life facelift.
a proper new A4 will come after the RS4.

I dont think this comparison is very fair, starting with the price tags, the Audi is more expensive.

One is a Euro Accord.
The other is a luxury German car. The Audi takes it for me, but itll be harder if the comparison was against the Acura TL, which is the car that directly competes against cars such as the 3 series and A4.
