*PICS* NGSM13's Fiberglassed door pods!!!!

Thanks to Jason (undercoverpunk)!

Just had to get that out of the way first, I'll prolly be saying it a few more times.

Anyways...WOOT!!!!!!!

These things are pimpin! I love them...and now...onto the pics!

WOOT...special hidden message:

WOW!!!!
HUGE THANKS TO JASON!

Without him, this would have never even been THOUGHT of. I'm so happy with just these results. In the coming weeks they will be bondo-d, sanded, sanded, sanded, skimmed, sanded, sanded, primered, wet-sand, painted, whew. Should be done in time for the Cincy Meet!

Thanks for looking fellas! Let me know what you think!

Re: *PICS* NGSM13's Fiberglassed door pods!!!!

Could we see how it's going to fit in the car?

It looks awesome, and I wish I had the resources to make something like that...

They will be mounted on the door panels with the rectangular thingy going into the door. There will be pics of them on the doors with speakers next weekend.

No shit, I agree 100%. It's my first truck that I've owned for years now...got it from my dad for $1000 i good shape and only 75,000 miles on it. It now has 105,000 and i think it's shit itself...I hate it...but I've already spent too much money on it in the past three months on other shit to just give up on it now.

The real story is, a NEW transmission with a 3 year warranty was put in. Then a little over 2 weeks later...the transmission is fucking up again. So now it's in the shop for a second time (and has been for over 2 weeks) waiting on ANOTHER transmission. It was supposed to be done last thursday...but Chrysler sent the shop the WRONG DAMN transmission. I hate Chrysler porducts and will NEVER own another one for the rest of my life!

Next truck will be a Chevrolet Colorado z71 4 door OR a NEW Nissan Frontier 4x4 nisMO edition. Test drove both, leaning towards the Nissan cuz Nissan's last forever...and I loved the interior/exterior and the way it drove!

Re: *PICS* NGSM13's Fiberglassed door pods!!!!

Me, all of our chevy's live forever. My s10 is 150k+, we have one pickup over 400K (i'm thinking over 500k, but im not sure...), still kicking around, a van with over 250K. You just can't kill them in my opinion. And from what I understand, you cant kill a nissan truck either. But my truck and that van are still stock everything (engine, tranny, rearend, all drivetrain). If you decide to get an older s10, get one with the 4.3L v6 (I know they don't put that in the colorado, but I would love to have one of those I5's). That 4.3 will live forever, (same engine as a 350SBC, but just cut off 2 pistons....) Enough of me blabbing about vehicles.....I sure like those door pods....!

Well, hopefully the truck will be done by the end of the week. If so, the door pods will be test fitted (mounted temporarily) so I can see mounting position AND the sound. Then over the course of two weeks...they will be finished off (i.e. bondo-d, sanded mass, and texture painted )

NG

PS: It better be done this week b/c I need to to go to Scottie's all weekend

Now for the meat and potatos...

I finished up the construction portion of NGSM13's door pods today, just thought you all might want some PICTURES!!!!

I started off by cutting out the mounts, which was the followed by taking back some airspace.

Dowel rods? Who the hell needs dowel rods? Not me, or subsequently NJizzm.

After that little ordeal I went to town, reinforging the living hell outta these doorpods. There's a MINIMUM of 3-4 layers everywhere, with a few spots getting up to 6-8 full layers.

These babies are rock solid, don't believe me?

Ok so maybe you're thinking, "Yeah they're strong for door pods, but they're not holding THAT much weight...."
Well these things are beefy enough to hold 145lbs of skinny white boy all by themselves...

And thanks to the backset they have quite a bit of volume...

Questions? Comments? Whatever...
