Wider Rims

hey guys..

i just bought 17" rims that are 7.5" wide. How do i know what tires are recommended for this tire width? i'm not sure if the tires i currently have on my 17x7's will fit....

Re: Wider Rims

There are some accepted generalizations, but go to the tire manufacturer's website. They have a big chart that lists everything about each tire, including its rim width ranges.

Since you are only going up 1/2", its almost a guarantee that your old tires will fit. It also depends on the aspect ratio. Taller sidewalls are a little more forgiving.

Here's an example of a website you want:

I actually had to replace a wheel after sliding into a curb and bending up the original and the only 16" rim in town I could find cheap for a quick fix was a 16x7 my stock are 16x8 so I asked the "tire guy" if it would fit and he said that just about any tire will fit 7" or 8" as long as the 16" is right obviously. So according to him you should be alright.
