Quick audio question

Hey whats going on i have a quick question for yall.

I have Two Ample ACWD 12 inch woofers heres their specs: Dual 4 ohm voice coils 250 rms 500 watt max.

Now i have a Ample amplifier specs according to the box: 600 watts bridgeable 150 rms x 2 4 ohms, 450 rms x 1 4 ohms, 240 x 2 2 ohms

Is it possiable to run these two subs off this amp or should i just keep it as a speaker amp and go spend the money on another bigger amp

Yeah dude, that stuff should work out just peachy. When matching subs to an amp, you want to match the rms power handlings of each. I would wire your two subs to 4 ohms (if you need a wiring diagram I can ge you one) so you will be putting 450 rms into two subs that can handle 500 rms. Sounds like a good deal to me. 450 rms is a good ammount of power... it will shake your car pretty good. Anything more powerful will result in shitty sound and possible blown speakers.

I always "over power" my speakers ......... my 2 300 watt (RMS) subs are being driven by appx 1000-1100 watt (RMS)

Actually your wrong...... how a sub will sound from the power is totally enclosure dependant. A sub will sound the same regaurdless of power (only louder with more)( unless your clipping). Blown speakers happen from simply putting too much power into a driver (usually much more then the rated rms with clean power playing music), Clipping close to at or above rms severly enough to prohibit proper cooling of the voice coil, or mechanicaly over driving the speaker making the coil bottom out and not get adequate cooling from motion. You can also mechanically overdrive a speaker, but that is install and power dependant. Distotion (shitty sound) comes from clipping or mechanically over driving a speaker. The enclosure also has a lot (most actually) to do with how a driver sounds.
