Getting the door panel off

Hey guys,

I just put the finishing touches on my subwoofer project, and today I was starting my next project... getting some good speakers into my doors. My 93 Accord EX seems to have 3 screws and a pop out plastic pressure pin that hold it in, as well as a bunch of little white pop fasteners. The problem I'm having is the handle and powerlock assembly is still attached very securely, and I don't see any way to release it. Has anyone had experience with removing these before?

Re: Getting the door panel off

This part is still attached pretty solidly to the door frame.

This is inside the door panel. The little purple thing is the clip that holds the rod that moves when you pull on the handle. I haven't tried very hard to pull it out, but it's a serious pain to reach it. I also think the silver-colored bracket connected to the green thingy is still attached, and what's keeping the panel on.

hmmm, drive down todicount auto parts and pick up a serive manual for your car, look it up in there, there should be detailed instructions. thoes manuals are great, just about any work you would want to do yourself it telss you all of the ins and outs on your vehicle, not just in general.

Thanks CB... how are those components working out for you, btw? I'm going to be looking around for some nice ones soon.

edit... here's a pic of the existing speaker:

Are there any decent sounding speakers in this size? I think it's a 5" or 5.25" or something. I can certainly add some tweeters up top as well.

Here's a pic including the size... is this the actual shape of all speakers this size?

The RE's are great. is that a ported enclosure they are in? that is pretty sweet if it is. especially for stock. thoes are alot better than my stocks, that is for sure. as far as exact fit. Ascenndat speaks of some XBL enabled 4.5's.

Re: Getting the door panel off

I've started a new thread for 5.25" component set suggestions... Could you find those to buy anywhere on the web? I've been to visionaryaudio.com and couldn't seem to find what I was looking for.
