RE XXX Question

So I've been thinkin about getting 2 XXX12's in the summer when i get some cash. Now a friend of a friend has 2 12" RE MT's. He's gonna sell them but he is having them reconed to be XXX's. He is selling them somewhere in the $200 range. My question is is it worth it to buy these reconed subs/will they be the same as the XXX? Any advantages/disadvantages to buying subs that are reconed?

Re: RE XXX Question

So MT motors with XXX softparts?

Why would you do that? I don't get it...

Re: RE XXX Question

yeah I don't get it either, the heart of the XXX IS its motor, without that it's just a weak MT.

Re: RE XXX Question

an SE with XXX parts is cool (the whole seXXX thing), but I don't get putting XXX parts on an MT chassis... It would just be a slightly quieter SPL sub, right?

Re: RE XXX Question

it would be an SPL sub with lower powerhandleing. wouldnt get as loud and couldnt take the power that MT coils can. i want an reXXX or an sxXXX or an reSX or an reSE or.... maybe RE needs to bring back the HC...lmao

You know absolutely nothing about the HC None of those RE-- could exist because of coil size duh!

As stated above, the MT uses an ENTIRELY different motor than the XXX...that's mainly what makes them different. They both DO however utilize 3" VC's. The MT have a SHIT TON of BL, no pole vent, and utilizes quad triple stiff spiders (SPL configuration), the MT motor also has an EXTREMELY tight gap.

So, in a word...NO...it would be stupid.

Re: RE XXX Question

i had (2) 15" RE HC quad 1 ohm coil with dual spider. David sold me those and i kind of regret i sold them. I should have sold only one of them and keep the other as a coffee table. lol

Re: RE XXX Question

HC's were a ported box good sq crazy low end sub. SX's are louder, but not as SQ oriented and FYI Beyond Audio Inhumans are HC's so if you ever hear either you've heard both.
