no fire at plugs
huy guys, my friend and i are trying to fix up an old plymouth colt that hasnt run in a while, and while working on it the other day, i pulled a plug to see if it was firing when it wouldnt start, and the plugs were not firing. the plugs and wires were very new when the car was parked, and show extremely little wear. what should i begin to check to see why there is no spark? i pulled 2 plugs, and both did not fire, i checked the wires and they are all soft and new in appearance and feel. any suggestions where to start checking would b greatly appreciated! thx

Welcome to the forum. I would actually check the wires using a volt meter to see if it isn't broken somewhere in the wire. Also, it could be related to other things, such as bad coil pack(s) or the ignition module, ect. Also, did you check the obvious, such as battery / alternator?

mmhmmmm
yes, i did. well kinda. the car didnt have a battery in it, so i jumped it by using jumper cables attached to my battery in my truck and the other ends attached to the cables in the car, the car would turn over slowly, but enough to where it should start if it were getting spark. as far as the alternator is concerned, iam unaware of its condition, as we have not had the car running to see if it drains the battery.

You may want to take a look at the distributer pop the cap when the engine is off and check to see that wires aren't broken or anything like that. And yes alternator and battery tighten the battery ports and check for corrosiun.

You may need to get a battery in it. You may not be getting enough volts to the ignition module to make it spark.
