how would i know if a repair has been done?
for example, my car is being worked on for head gasket. The mechanic told me he would send it to a machine shop to get it serviced. how do i know if they really sent it to the machine shop?? will the reciept show such a thing? i gave the car to him thing morning and he said it will be ready same day at around 6pm......isnt that too fast for a head gasket job + machining??

if he knows a machine shop that isn't very busy, they can easily reface a head in a half hour.

hey I just got my car back and its running great and all....but when i look at the engine, there is blue silicon-like substance around all the gaskets.....I read somewhere before that you are not suppose to use silicon on gaskets???

Re: how would i know if a repair has been done?
not true
silicon is fine for gaskets -as long as its used properly-
a lot of cars nowdays are switching to using only silicon for most gaskets from the factory anyways
