What subs should i get
I'm looking to create a system in my car that would blow away everyone elses system's in town. Mostly everyone has memphis which i think is shit or they have jl audio w7's. The biggest is 2 12" w7's with two 1000/1's jl amps. I need something thats going to blow that out of the water. I was thinking of maybe doing 4 10" jl w7's but im not sure i have heard alot about the new rockford power stage 2 and the adire audio brahma. I just dont know what to get or what amp i would get to power these things. Also these subs will be going in a 2002 monte carlo so i have alot of room. If anyone could help me out on what to get it would be a great help. I want a really loud system that also sounds the best that it can for around $5,000 tops. Thanks for your help!

Well, from what it sounds like...you want it LOUD and sounding good.
Check out:

It's just as good (or better) than the w7 at a smaller price. It also has the potential to get louder
As far as amps, depends on how many you plan on getting. You'll need AT LEAST 1000watts RMS per subwoofer...I'd recommend more in the 1200-1600rms range (1600 is recommended rms for the XXX).
When you're looking at that much power, you are DEFINITELY going to need a new electrical system. Check out www.sounddomain.com and get in on the Alternator Group buy at a discounted rate there...i'd say get a 250 amp alternator. You'll also need to upgrade your big three (Alt to battery positive, Batt negative to chassis ground, Batt negative to engine block ground...do this with 1/0 awg wire). I'd also replace my stock battery with a yellow top, and if possible...run a dedicated yellow top in the rear. This will keep your electrical up to par, and stable, and you won't have any problems running a few thousand watts
LMK if you're looking for anything else like a HU, upgrading stock speakers, etc.

substage: two ported xxx15's, two ported death penalty 15's, or two ported SX 15's at 28-35hz
sub amps: 2 Incriminator 20.1's for the xxx's one incriminator 20.1 for the DP's or SX's.
Total in subs 500-900 Total in amp(s) 750-1500
Total in subs and amps 1250-2400

So for the 2 xxx 15's and 2 20.1's your looking at around 3200 with everything in and running
with the 2 DP's and one 20.1 around 2500
with the two sx's and one 20.1 around 2200.
DO you need a head unit and components?

2 MT 18's ported tuned to 35Hz with a few SH-1's or 20.1's

They wont even have a need to try and listen to their systems when you are around....
But seriously, 2 XXX 15's w/ 3200w will eat up 2 JL dub7 12's with 2000w....

If you're looking at comparing to w7's...why would you EVER say anything about an MT?!?!?!
The XXX is a more musical, much better all around daily subwoofer, period.

yes i nd new components and a new head unit. Im not really sure what the best brand for head units is, right now i have an alpine cda-9833 but it has a dead channle so i would like to get a new one. I'm located in indinapolis. As long as the system that i have blows these w7's out of the water then i will be happy, i would like it to be able to beat two of the 13.5" w7's if thats not a problem to do. I want to be heard from a mile away lol. Thanks alot!

ohh yea almost forgot....... Since your gunna be wanting to go ported and have one HELL of a substage I'd xover to 8's then to a component set. Liiiiiiikkeee say some Koda 8's xed over to a koda component set and a nice 100-150x4. As far As HU's go get w/e alpine or eclipse's top of the line is ATM.

Mike...keep it simple.
I'd go with some CDT HD62 components up front, and get a 2 x 250rms amplifier to power them...thro some coaxials in the rear for fill. peace

I have been looking and i think that im goin to go with the adire audio brahmas or re xxx's or mt's. Im not set on what i want to get yet, not really sure which is the best. I never really heard of any of these brands, i just know about all the maistream brands like rockford and JL. Also i nd to know what kinda amps i goin to nd i dont anything about these internet brands and what brand has the best amps. Thanks for all the help!

welll the MTs are great if you want for your car to break apart from bass.. but they arent desinged to sound great.. the xxxs and brahmas are designed for sq and just get loud at the same time.. so yeah if you want to really beat their systems then 2 MTs would kill people.. but if you still want your sub to sound great (and you should) then stick with xxxs or brahmas.. and id say xxxs cause they are a little louder than brahmas.. or in that case SXs cause theyre louder than XXXs..
but then again i dont know if the xxx vs. sx test with more power than recommended for the sx
