Little brother is looking for a coupe for college.
My little brother is looking for a coupe for college, that looks decent, he really doesn't want something fast but not a dog. And I dont think he wants to spend more thatn 8K.

For that much you can get alot, just figure out what manufacture he wants and choose a liked car from that company.
But for under 8K there are alot of choices, personsally i'd buy a 5k car and put 3k worth of performance upgrades. Like a civ, teg, probe, stang, and so on.

Well I think that he is pretty much a GM but I think that he is starting to get despret for a car, so I would say anything.

Re: Little brother is looking for a coupe for college.
find a nice 5.0 fox body stang for about 2-3 k and have 5-6 towards the aftermarket, get a nice flowmaster cat back exhaust, headers, some 3.73 gears, 347 stroker kit, GT40 heads

Re: Little brother is looking for a coupe for college.
If he's a GM guy, $8,000 will get him a very nice V6 Camaro or Firebird, or if he wants even more performance, he can get an older LT1-powered Camaro Z28 or Trans Am. There's also the 1996-2002 Chevy Cavalier Z24 and Pontiac Sunfire GT; they're pretty quick, easy to find, and dirt cheap to buy and maintain.

Most people in college are budgeting, so most don't want a heavy gas guzzler, I'm going to college soon, and I'll be retiring (maybe even selling) my Dakota R/T, I'm gonna purcahse a cheap Civic from my uncle, it's a Point A to Point B car.
For your brother, I'd suggest an Integra, whether it be a GS or GS-R, cheap to buy and fix, easy to find, and good on mileage.

Re: Little brother is looking for a coupe for college.
i'd recommend a 5th gen prelude. you can probably find a 97 or 98 prelude for 8k or less. not terribly fast but quick enough. they handle very well for fwd, particularly the type SH. reliable and fun to drive. more exclusive than other hondas like tegs or civics so you'll have something somewhat "exclusive"

There's another option I've seen some, not many, but some take. Spend a little bit of money getting something like a GEO Prizm or something like that. It's cheap to drive and very reliable.
You can then spend the rest of your money for a motorcycle. Motorcycles are fast, quick, and very cheap to ride so you'd have something faster than a Ferrari with double the gas milage.
Then when the weather got bad or it was raining you'd have that car to fall back on.

Re: Little brother is looking for a coupe for college.
I would recommend either a Mustang V6 or a Pontiac Grand Prix, preferably used

Re: Little brother is looking for a coupe for college.
Tell him to buy a beater (like an old Honda, reliable as hell) and save his money throughout college and then buy a sweet ride after he graduates.

I told him that, and i think he kind of likes the ideal, I told him to get like a cheap grand am and then buy like a used late 90's bike.
