Tap the knowledge

You guys seem to know what you're saying or else you talk a good game.

I'm looking for advice here. I have a factory head unit with no frills (only a cassette). I also have an mp3 player type thing that wants to plug into rca inputs. My head unit certainly isn't going to do anything with it. I bought a cd/xm radio with aux inputs from Best Try and hooked up all the wiring harness connections and stuff. Plugged it all in and it sounded like crap and it doesn't fit. I have a 99 Buick Century with a double DIN head unit. The new radio is too deep to fit back in the hole (often my problem ). The new guy was only $140, so what do you expect? I expect better sound than this, for sure. Also, I was hoping to get a replacement that is single DIN (is that right?) and use the other part for the controller for the new mp3 player type thing.

So, I need something that will fit, is a single DIN, sounds good, doesn't cost much, plays CD (I would like XM), and has aux inputs.

Am I asking too much?

Check into some lower line Alpine and Clarion...they're your best bet. Look online...check out ebay stores as well. I'll see if I can get you a few links later on...peace
