Oh boy!

I have a chevy silverado and when i start the truck it sounds fine so i start to drive it and it lurches and then i hear a slite grind about where the cam would be it seems. God i hope i haven't done something to the cam cause i dont want to have to replace it. What should i do about this what do you think it is? thanks.

Re: Oh boy!

Don't be a jerk about it. Your post is hard to follow without more details. I've never heard of a cam grinding. Its also hard to tell since we don't know what year your truck is; traditional small block or newer LS-based engine? roller cam? flat tappets? engine size? six cylinder or 8 cylinder? From inside the truck there would be almost no way of determining where the sound is coming from since its insulated so well.

If its an older truck with a distributor I say timing chain. If its a newer truck with the LS based engine I would say something in the transmission. It could be anything and unless you give us more to go on, we can't help.

It will also help if your subject line gives us an indicator of what we're looking for. If you notice, not many people even opened your thread. I didn't for a long time because I thought you were going to express a joy about something, like saying, "goodie goodie!". A subject that says something like "2002 silverado lurching and grinding" might get those of us with chevy experience to read it and speak up.
