Not too loud, but....

For subs, I was considering going with one 12" XXX and a US Amps amp to accompany it, but that kind of cash outlay doesnt seem possible now. any suggestions on what i could get that would be decently loud, but i am not trying to reach 140 db. Budget for sub (either 1 or 2 12'"s) and an amp to power it. Box i will build myself and i am not against internet brands. looking at around $300 to $500 total. thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Not too loud, but....

2 12" Ascendant Audio Atlas's, not sure what amp, all you need is 200-250 watts each

The SE 15 with the jbl would probably total over the $500 i wanted to spend, but that would be a nice setup. the atlas would be a good idea, but they are discontinuing them. any other suggestions? and i am trying to avoid best buy brands if possible.

Re: Not too loud, but....

220ish fo an SE and under 200 for a used 600.1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ssPageName=WDVW
or that
or hell you could een get a jbl 1200.1 just be conservative w/ the gains. SE's will hold 1200+ daily as long as the amp is not clipping.

or this will work
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5776678185&rd=1

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5776471145&rd=1

would be damn good

because space is also an issue in the trunk, how noticable a difference would there be between then 12" SE and a 15" SE? and also, the jbl 600.1 would be suffiient to power the SE?

not to get annoying here, but beacause of space, i am going to go with a 12"...the debate is between a 12" SE and a jbl 600.1 (less than $300) or a 12" SX with a jbl 1200.1 (around $500). budget is still around $450...and any other amp suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again guysl

Re: Not too loud, but....

i would say the SX 12" and 1200.1, if its too much then wait a little while longer.

Re: Not too loud, but....

An sx 12 will get nearly as loud as an SE 15. Very close. So I'd say if your going with a 12' get an SX. The box will need to be near 3 cubic feet gross.
