$0.92 a foot at lowes but it isnt the most flexible in the world

Comparo 1/0 to 4ga, it may not seem like a big differnce but to the electrons trying to move it makes a big difference

And the scale is 1 1/2lbs light

QUITE gay...

I paid $.97 a foot at welding supply. Last time I BOUGHT 1/0 was like 2 years ago, I get my shit for free..hookup style. I'm also a preferred buyer at welding supply, they hook me up to at that same price . Oh, and the shield SUCKS on that homedepot shit, I would electrical tape it, or friction tape it...to protect it more in the hot engine bay.

NG

PS: oh...and you can't tie your wire in knots...
and you don't get cool shirts like this...

Re: Its Here, Waiting ofr Sub

Using house wire is the most gay thing I've seen CB do for some time. I mean, back in the mid 80's that's what you did because there was nothing else to use. That crap made for home use just don't cut it. It's a bitch to use even in the home! Plus, if you compare that to 1/0 gauge premium wire for automotive, the automotive wire will be much more conductive because of the smaller stranding. Plus, if you get the real shit, it will be pretty much o2 free which is nice. Reason, is so it will last longer. It won't turn green and lose its conductivity.

BTW, we sell 4gauge wire for $.50/ft and 0gauge for $.95/ft around here.

Re: Its Here, Waiting ofr Sub

Poncho thinks he knows what he is talking about...

BTW.. 1/0 is already overdoing it for my amp so why should i care.

also, i dont know why youall say it is a pain to work with...i geuss its because im the onlyone with balls around here so i can bend it...

but i already took the heat stuff into account, the grounds im not worried about because neither are passing by the manifolds or the block but the alt. to bat. i have red electrical tape that ive had for a while for no reason and the plastic sheild.

BTW more strands doesnt mean more conductivity all the time ...and copper is still copper...and i can tie my wire in a big knot...lol

oh and your shirt is gay noah...id trash it or use it for cleaning up fiberglass or something...

Re: Its Here, Waiting ofr Sub

CB, if you had to go Walmart style of cable, you should have at least looked into welding or jumper cable. At least it will have around 1600 strand count or higher. When someone wants to cut corners on wire, that's what I have them look for.

Re: Its Here, Waiting ofr Sub

STRANDS DONT MATTER WHEN TALKING ABOUT CONDUCTIVITY!!!!

THE ONLY THING THAT MATTER WHEN SPEAKING OF CONDUCTIVITY IS MASS, WETHER IT BE HEAT OR ELECTRICITY!!!!!

if you knew JACK SQUAT about physics or electronics you would know this.

why do you think the chassis is so conductive, not because steel is a great conductor, because it isnt, its because its cross sectional area is so great which means, the longer it gets the greater its mass. same goes for copper, the more area you have the more mass you have as the wire folows the Z axis. this leaves more copper atoms to conduct with.

NOW STFU AND GO BACK INTO YOUR DIRECTED AUDIO CORNER!!!

FLEXIBILITY IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THIS WIRE FOR MY PARTICULAR INSTALATION, HEAT ISSUE HAS ALREADY BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE HAND.

ok im done...

Re: Its Here, Waiting ofr Sub

Bat (-) to Chassis finished in the 30mins i had after work before it started raining and my truck odnt fit in the garadge...besides ive yet to get a 3 100a fuses for the Bat (+) to Alt (+) and a block for them and Alt (-) to chassis requies the removal of a bolt and the loosening of all the others and maybe the loosening of the belt...so that will be saved for this weekend when i have more than 30mins on my hands...

Re: Its Here, Waiting ofr Sub

oh ya, pics..

here you go...ya this was SOOOOO hard to work with...i mean 2 90 degree bends with a 4" radius was sooo hard...

yes the stock clamp, there untill i rin down to the autoparts store and get a solid copper one.

actually guys, CB is right .... the AWG # describes a wire with a certain total cross sectional area. Lower total strand counts are thicker inividual wires, which or course makes them a little stiffer. In the end, every #4 AWG wire better have the same conductivity (resistance per foot) or it's not #4 AWG.

Unfortunately, car amps do not draw straight DC current ...... a PMW power supply draws power at 50-60 KHz. You may find that in a modern applications the inductance is more important than the resistance in a power cable.

Re: Its Here, Waiting ofr Sub

on top of that, there is no wire that is "pretty much o2 free" oxygen free wire is just wire that was tineted before it was cased...most high guage wires dont do that, even the "car stereo" stuff doesnt. and if they have a higher strand count that also means they are MORE suseptible to oxidation and corosion because, if you knew anything about chemistry, there is more surface area for reaction to occur...
