Audi A4 for 10K

I know a friend who has a dealer friend and got his 2000 A4 for $7000. Here's the real problem. I have 10G's to spend on a car and my friend is willing to sell his A4 for $10G's. I don't know much bout euro car's but are they fast at all? If i do get the a4, i'm planning to souping up the bejesus out of it but i'm thinkin that might get too expensive with college. I'm planning on streetracing so would this be a good choice or should i get like a si and putting the rest of the money in parts?
good looking out!

is it a quattro...1.8LT or the V6.

the 1.8LT has a huge aftermarket so if thats what you want to do with it the options are there...and the quattro makes it that much better for street racing.

$10K for a 2000 A4 is not a bad deal at all...actually it is a pretty good one. i remember looking at pre 98's for 7-8k and if i remember correctly they changed the body style in 2000.

Re: Audi A4 for 10K

If you don't care about brand image, you really might as well get a VW Jetta 1.8T or a VW GTI 1.8T. They cost less than the Audi, weigh less, and are more plentiful (easy to find a great deal). The main con is that they don't come with AWD, but unless you're planning on going well over three-hundred horsepower, FWD will be fine with a good set of rubber up front.

Why is your friend making a profit off you?

The kbb value for the car is 19G and he got it for 7G, so he's gotta make some profit. But i'm going to talk him into selling it for 9Gs. I think thats a steal. HOok ups. Plus I know a couple of guys who sells car parts for dirst cheap. He's going to hook me up with an alpine touchscreen tv for $200!!!

Re: Audi A4 for 10K

hmm... most people who want to make their car go that little bit faster tend to remove the junk....
