Well, it's hard to say. Dodge has the best engine in the Cummins, GM has the best transmission in the Allison, and Ford has best truck. IMO You can't wrong with any of them but I'd say the Dodge is the worst of the three, and the GMs and Fords are pretty even.

yea , i think the cummins is an out-dated diesel, i think dodge should be working on a new V8 turbo diesel, but i think ford has the best diesel but thats just me

I voted Dodge, because I assumed the question was only about the best engine. The Cummins is the best diesel engine on the market IMO. The best truck, though, would have to be the Ford.

I live in the middle of truck country and the only thing you see farmers driving are Dodge Diesels.

thats a toughy, i know the new ford out pulls the dodge with like 17,500 pounds and has a way bigger payload than dodge/chevy but as far as which engine is better? i have no idea, theyre both very realiable, very powerful and respond well to upgrades, im not even gonna bother makin up my mind, ill take both... ahh hell throw in a chevy to

going with
1. Ford
2. Dodge
3 GM

Ford has a way nicer truck and good all around everything. Dodge only really has a good engine, the interiors suck and the trannies are usless. As for Gm i just dont like GM so i put them last, plus GM and Dodge Eat way more gas then Ford.

None of them.

International makes the Ford, the Dodge is made by Cummins, and Isuzu makes the Chevy and Allison makes their tranny. Also, there isn't a problem with the Dodge trannys and the Cummins is a new engine, newer than the current Power Stroke.

All I can say is that the Cummins has been restricted because Dodge told them they didn't need more power. There is plenty more left in those engines. Most of the professional truckers will go with Cummins engines if they can afford them.

So, my vote goes to Dodge with Ford in a very close second. I think that integrated trailer brake is an awesome idea. I don't know why someone didn't think of it sooner.

The Cummins diesel gets my node. Why? Its an I6, the optimal design for a diesel thats meant for hauling. To bad the rest of the truck isn't to par with its engine.

If you're talking about what I think then it has been out for a while now. The thing is you needed to buy it and instal it yourself. With it coming from the factory removes a whole lot of headache.

Has anyone noticed that people voting for Dodge, drive something in the Chrysler line up and people voting for Ford drive something in the ford Line up and so on... and Just for the record.. Isuzu doesn't make the chevy.. Chevy has partial ownership of Isuzu. The duramax and Allison are the best combo.
Just had one in the dealership a 2002 already had 183,000 Miles on it. No problems, Hauls feed and livestock. I think they all have there ups and downs... however.. I still have to stick with the Silverado

Re: Out of The Big 3, Who Makes The Best Diesel, GM/Ford/Dodge

^I think what they are refering to with the Isuzu thing is Isuzu makes the Duramax motor. I go with the Ford strongest truck, good motor, and great trans. I say the trans is great because the Powerstroke is only rated at 570lbs, chevy 605lbs and dodge 600lbs. And even with the heaviest truck the Ford is always faster in acceleration in magazines emty and loaded/towing. The Dodge comes in second for me if it had a better trans it would be a close race it's just missing that one extra gear in the auto. The Chevy has 5 gear auto and the gear ratios are almost idential to the Torqueshift Ford execpt for 3 and 4 I think which the Ford has shorter quicker shift giving it the edge over the rest.
