i was checkin out the soundstream sx-12 sub. is this sub any good? it seems like it'd fit my needs pretty good.

I have no idea about their subs but I am going to get a Soundstream Picasso amp, I think amps are what they focus on. What about the SX-12 appeals to you?

Yeah, they used to be the bomb on amps and never even made any subs. Never personally heard their subs.
